2022 Mercy Foundation Festival of Trees
7:19 PM · Nov 16, 2022Festival of Trees is back for the 29th year, brought to you by the Mercy Foundation. This event directly benefits the children of Douglas County and allows many community supporters and local businesses to support our youth. The Mercy Foundation has a motto, “Every Kid Counts.” With the Festival of Trees, this motto is brought to life throughout the entirety of the events. Since the inception of Festival of Trees in 1993, it has raised over $5.5 million dollars for children’s health care programs and provides much-needed community outreach. Because of the community’s investment, children are healthier and better prepared for school. Programs for youth and their families include: - Improving dental health through school-based preventative care and health education in 38 schools through the Healthy Kids Outreach Program (HKOP) dental initiative - Supporting HKOP School Resource RNs who work in concert with OSU Extension, SNAP ED program to teach health, hygiene, nutrition education, and encourage kids to get more physical activity and less screen time - Assisting families with children who have medical needs requiring specialized medical equipment, medication, and/or out-of-area travel for specialty care - Helping Douglas County schools and other service organizations with special projects like installing washers and dryers in 38 schools, providing backpacks filled with school supplies, hygiene products, and lice shampoo - Teaching life skills such as anti-bullying, healthy relationships, and positive communications - Protection and prevention through programs from human trafficking and child abuse - Supporting youth with Type 1 diabetes and their families by providing education, resources, and peer-to-peer support The impact Festival of Trees has on kids and their families is tremendous. Through the community’s generosity, we are improving the overall quality of life for tens of thousands of Douglas County youth.
