4:57 PM · Apr 12, 2022A U.S. Kids Golf tournament is returning to the Roseburg Country Club on Saturday April 16. The tournament is a part of the Southwest Oregon local spring tour with tournaments in Southwest Oregon and Northern California. The spring tour gives boys and girls from age 6 and under, all the way up to 18 years an opportunity to play golf in various age brackets. Lana Silvestri from Roseburg plays in the girls 11-12 bracket and shot a 93 (+21) at the Eugene Country Club on April 9 in the opening tournament of the SW Oregon spring tour. Silvestri also played in the U.S. Kids tournament at RCC on October 10, 2021 where she shot an 89 (+17) for 18 holes. “My hope is to bring events like this to Roseburg that are inclusive for all ages to drive interest in golf for younger kids within the community of Roseburg,” PGA Head Golf Professional at RCC Karl Hamilton said. “I’m also working on getting the OGA (Oregon Golf Association) to bring an event here for Jr Golf as well. We will also have Jr. Camps this summer, beginning in June. I am a huge believer in growing the game.” Samantha Clawson is the tournament director and late registration is still available for the tournament at RCC on April 16.
