32 kids played in the U.S. Kids Tournament on Saturday, October 9 at the Roseburg Country Club. Lana Silvestri from Roseburg played in the girls 11-12 bracket and shot an 89 (+17) for 18 holes. Silvestri birdied the 13th hole and made par on 6 other holes in her round. Joshua Schrock of Myrtle Creek played in the boys 8-year-old bracket and was the other local player to participate. Schrock shot a 67 on his 9-hole round. Several other players in the region participated from Eugene, Grants Pass, Bend, Medford, and some from out of the state. Samantha Clawson was the Tournament Director and runs the Spring & Fall Tournament Series. The tournament series’ next event will be on October 16th at Grants Pass. “My hope is to bring events like this to Roseburg that are inclusive for all ages to drive interest in golf for younger kids within the community of Roseburg,” PGA Head Golf Professional at RCC Karl Hamilton said. “I’m also working on getting the OGA (Oregon Golf Association) to bring an event here for Jr Golf as well. Next summer, we will also have Jr. Camps, beginning in June. I am a huge believer in growing the game.” Brock Drury (Grants Pass) and Tyler Crawford (West Linn) tied for first in the boys 15-18 division both shooting a 83 (+11). Kye Daywitt (Grants Pass) won the girls 15-18 division with a 91 (+19).
