Mystic Mountain Fire On Little River Road At 20 Acres, Good Progress Being Made
11:47 PM · Sep 8, 2021Shortly before 4:00 PM, crews from the Douglas Forest Protective Association and Glide Rural Fire Department responded to a reported natural cover fire located three miles southeast of Glide, near Little River Road and Mystic Mountain Lane. Upon arrival to the incident, several structures were threatened by the fast-moving fire and evacuation notices were issued in conjunction with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office for residents nearby. A level 3 “GO!” evacuation notice was issued for all homes on Mystic Mountain Lane and a Level 2 “Set” evacuation notice was issued for all homes located off Little River Road between Mystic Mountain Lane, east, to Peel. Little River Road has also been closed east of the intersection with Buckhorn Road to all non-residents due to heavy fire traffic in the area. Currently, the Mystic Mountain Fire is estimated to be 20 acres in size and the Incident Commander is reporting good progress on containing the fire. A heavy aviation component consisting of five helicopters and a large air tanker are being used to slow the spread of the fire up the hillside while two bulldozers and multiple engine crews work to construct containment lines around the fire. Agencies currently engaged on the Mystic Mountain Fire include: DFPA, Glide Rural Fire Departments, Douglas County Fire District #2, Roseburg Fire Department, Sutherlin Fire Department, Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, and Oregon State Police.
