Next Weather System Arrives Wednesday; Lots of Snow To Fall in Mountains

(NWS Medford) Significant snow is expected in the higher mountains Wednesday and Wednesday night. Snow levels will rise during the day with snow changing briefly to rain or a rain/snow mix in the late afternoon into the evening, then transitioning to snow again overnight.. Snow levels start at 4500 feet, then rise to 5500 to 6000 ft in the late afternoon and evening, before lowering again to 4000 ft overnight. Locations near Mount Shasta may only see slightly lower snow levels. Winds will increase Wednesday afternoon and remain gusty into Wednesday night. Some of the key impact areas include Interstate 5 at Weed and Highway 31 at Summer Lake with gusts to 40 mph at Weed and gusts to 55 mph at Summer Lake on Highway 31.
