Thursday Morning Archie Creek Fire Update 9:45 am

4:50 PM · Sep 10, 2020

The Archie Creek Fire is up to 107,492 acres, an increase of 10,148 acres since yesterday. The growth of the fire has definitely slowed overnight. (Updated numbers to reflect the latest mapping) Crews are working on the north side of the North Umpqua River by French Creek fighting the fire directly to prevent it from coming into Glide. Other crews are up Little River doing everything they can to protect the homes in that area. I believe the Narrows Tavern is still standing this morning. I haven’t heard any other reports. Inside the active burn area up river, it looks like there were over 150 structures inside the burn area. That does not mean that all those structures were lost, however. Right now it's impossible to get an accurate count of the lost structures. Fire crews have been working really hard all the way up to Idleyld Park area saving as many structures as possible. Smoke is going to be bad again today but later in the day the winds will shift blowing some of the smoke east and out of Roseburg a bit. It's definitely going to be pretty unhealthy outside today. After today, the weather conditions should improve going into next week. Josh Gaunt wrote up a list of Thursday’s closures due to the fire. https://jointracker.com/t/roseburg/posts/5f5a4e163930da00045a51d8 Here is the latest map from Thursday morning of the current uncontrolled fire edge, evacuation zones, and much more.
