Roseburg Splash Pad To Remain Open Two More Weeks
12:11 AM · Sep 4, 2020(City of Roseburg) The City of Roseburg is delighted to announce that it will extend the opening of the Splash Pad, located at Fir Grove Park, to Monday, September 21, 2020. During a normal summer season, the Splash Pad would open on Memorial Day and close on Labor Day. But due to COVID-19, the Splash Pad opening was delayed. City staff has decided to delay the closure by two weeks, giving families and kids additional opportunities to enjoy the attraction. Open during the summer season, when temperatures can climb into the 90-degree range, the Splash Pad is a perennial favorite of families in the Roseburg area. Opened in June 2018, this local attraction has helped families cool down ever since. Parks and Recreation Manager, Kris Ammerman, comments on the summer season. “We are really fortunate to have such a great facility like the Splash Pad in our community,” says Ammerman. “It gives families something fun to do when the weather is warm. This past summer was no exception. Initially, with the COVID-19 restrictions, we were not sure if the Splash Pad would even open. Thankfully, the State allowed us to open safely so that kids could enjoy a fun, socially-distanced activity. The Splash Pad did open late in the season, however. Taking this into consideration, we decided to keep it open for another couple of weeks so that families can enjoy the last bit of summer weather.” The Splash Pad operates from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily. The Fir Grove playground, located adjacent to the Splash Pad, will remain open for the near future.
