Mercy Foundation Receives Grant For Healthy Kids Outreach Program
9:00 PM · Aug 18, 2020Mercy Foundation was recently awarded a grant of $20,000 from Oregon Community Foundation for the Healthy Kids Outreach Program (HKOP) Dental program for COVID-19 related services and supplies. This gift comes at a crucial time for the Mercy Foundation as a new process for outreach dental clinics in the fall is underway. Mercy Foundation staff have been strategizing with local school leadership, the Oregon Health Authority and the Oregon Department of Education. “We have been notified by Oregon Healthy Authority and Oregon Dept. of Education that we will be able to continue our clinics under mandated restrictions and safety measures for our community youth” says Lisa Platt, Mercy Foundation director.. “This is a great vote of confidence by both OCF and OHA and regardless of whether local youth are in classrooms or doing online classes our plans are to provide them and their families with the opportunity to continue to receive dental services.” “On behalf of the board, I would like to thank the Oregon Community Foundation for their generous grant award to our organization,” say Dr. Paul Kremser, Board chair. “We appreciate their continued support of our efforts to improve the health of our community.” Oregon Community Foundation is Oregon’s largest public charity, according to a news release, and has provided grants for COVID-19 relief efforts to 562 nonprofits across the state.
