Umpqua National Forest Increasing Industrial Fire Danger

6:02 PM · Jul 23, 2020

(UNF) ROSEBURG, OR – July 23, 2020 – Effective Monday, July 27, at 12:01 a.m., all areas within the boundaries of the Umpqua National Forest will enter an Industrial Fire Precaution Level (IFPL) II with a rating of MODERATE fire danger. Precaution level II, or "partial hoot-owl", prohibits blasting, welding, cable yarding or the use of power saws except at loading sites, from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. The restrictions apply to all contractors and permit holders working on the Umpqua National Forest, including those with permits to cut personal-use firewood. While the industrial fire precaution level doesn’t apply to recreation users, visitors are encouraged to be cautious with fire while outdoors. Fire officials with the Umpqua National Forest ask that all campers completely extinguish campfires completely going to sleep or before leaving your site. The forest remains at a MODERATE fire danger rating and a Personal Use Restriction (PUR) level 1.
