Sections of North Umpqua Trail to Close Briefly For Repairs

5:54 PM · Jul 14, 2020

Roseburg, OR – July 14, 2020 – The Umpqua National Forest, Diamond Lake Ranger District is temporarily closing two sections of the North Umpqua Trail beginning July 15 through July 17 and will be reopened Saturday July 18. The trail closure is necessary to place a steel culvert and new surface rock to replace the bridge which was destroyed in a previous fire. “The contractor has been working to reduce the time of the closure as this is a very popular segment of the trail,” said Steve Marchi, Umpqua National Forest Engineer. “The contractor expects to have it finished on Friday, July 17 and reopened on to the public on Saturday.” No traffic will be allowed through the project site and signs will be posted on the beginnings of each segment of the trail. For more information please contact Peggy Sue Roberts at the Umpqua National Forest’s Supervisor’s Office at: 541-957-3432. Continue to monitor the Umpqua’s Facebook page and website for the most up-to-date information available.
