Roseburg High School Girls Soccer Begins Practices
9:43 PM · Jul 1, 2020The Roseburg high school girls soccer team will begin practicing today for the first official meeting since the Covid-19 pandemic shut down the OSAA spring sports season. Everyone on the team will have their temperature checked daily along with asking them the standard Covid-19 questions. The team will be limited to practice in groups of 10 with at least six feet apart and no contact playing. "It will be very different and difficult as these kids haven't seen each in months and just want to hug their friends and teammates," Coach Kristin Parks said. "We're excited to get going as we too have missed our players." The girls soccer team will meet 5:30-7:30 p.m. Monday and Wednesday nights at Finlay Field at RHS. Parks said she hopes to have at least 20 girls show up at each practice. "I think we are all eager to get started." Parks said. Roseburg high school principal Jill Weber said RHS will begin some summer sports workouts beginning July 1 as other sports will begin working out soon too including football. The football team is planning for their first meeting on July 6 at 6 p.m. at RHS. "We're working on our plans for next year including sports," Weber said. "We don’t know much yet."
