A good team can make another good team look bad sometimes,” Roseburg coach Steve Lander said. “We started with good energy it’s a tough environment to play in with our crowd. We kind of snow balled them tonight.” The Indians had three forfeits to start the match then five pins, a decisions and finished with five more pins. Rogan Coffman (195), Tyler Estes (220) and Hunter Blix (285) all did not face an opponent due to forfeit. The JV team beat South Medford 78-6. “We wrestled well, we had quite a few forfeits, five forfeits, we lost our 126 pound match but won all the others by forfeit or by fall,” Lander said. “It was very dominant for exhibition matches.” Roseburg will wrestle in the Oregon Classic in Redmond Friday and Saturday at the Deschutes County Expo Center. Roseburg lost to first ranked Newberg in the final last year. “The Oregon Classic is considered the dual meet championships,” Lander said. “We will have four dual meet matches on Friday starting at 3:30 and will four three more dual meet matches on Saturday. We can take our varsity roster plus six other kids. It’s good experience wrestling kids we don’t normally see. We look forward to wrestling Newberg again if we can win our first six matches and they can too.” Photos courtesy of Kim Root. Photos of Colin Rietmann, Kahleb Diaz and Cameron Cross.
