YMCA of Douglas County Announces Exciting Youth Programs and Events This April

ROSEBURG, OR – April is an exciting month at the YMCA of Douglas County, with a variety of activities and programs aimed at promoting youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. Youth Sports Track & Field is Back! The YMCA’s Youth Sports Track & Field program has officially returned, and registration kicked off on April 1. With limited spots available, families are encouraged to sign up as soon as possible. The program culminates in a fun and exciting track meet at Roseburg High School on May 31 for all participants. YMCA Partners with Roseburg Junior Cheer The YMCA of Douglas County is thrilled to announce its recent partnership with Roseburg Junior Cheer, making the program an official YMCA youth sports offering. Roseburg Junior Cheer serves as the official feeder program for Roseburg High School Cheer and Stunt, cheers sideline for Roseburg Youth Football, competes statewide, and actively engages in community performances and volunteer activities. YMCA Roseburg Junior Cheer is open to kids entering 2nd through 8th grade, with several upcoming events in April, including cheer clinics and tryouts. Join us from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM in the Y Gym (Parkview Skating entrance) and parking lot as we celebrate and promote healthy living for youth and families. This event will include a variety of fun activities, valuable resources, and an emphasis on water safety. Plus, a limited number of free youth lifejackets will be available. Upcoming Aquatic Courses As part of its ongoing commitment to youth development, the YMCA is offering two upcoming aquatic courses: a swim instructor course and a lifeguard course. Registration for both courses is open now, providing essential training for individuals looking to develop lifesaving skills and serve their community. Expanding Fitness Opportunities The YMCA also offers over 20 different fitness classes and continues to add more to meet community needs. Most recently, the Y introduced a Wim Hof Breathing class, providing members with unique techniques for improving physical and mental well-being.
