Women's Golf Night, "Zumba in the Park" Return to Stewart Park For the Summer
9:35 PM · Jun 6, 2024ROSEBURG, Ore. – Roseburg Parks and Recreation invites women golfers to play “Just for Fun” golf on Monday nights this summer. Starting Monday, June 17, the recreational program offers women five chances to play golf and make new friends at Stewart Park Golf Course, 1005 NW Stewart Parkway in Roseburg. You don’t have to be an expert golfer to come enjoy a round of golf, said Roseburg Parks and Recreation Coordinator Tracy David. “This is a great program for women golfers of all abilities. It’s such a slow, relaxed game of golf,” added David. “We just ask that you have a basic knowledge of the game. This is a great opportunity to get out and play the game if you have any reservations about your skills.” The recreational program will mix ladies together in different groups each week so you’ll have opportunities to meet and play with many others at the nine-hole course. You can be placed in a group or bring a foursome of women who golf together. Evening golf will be held on June 17; July 1, 15 and 29; and Aug. 12. Participants can play each night or whichever nights fit their schedule. The $25-a-night fee covers a greens fee, recreation fee and cart rental. Players need their own golf clubs and basic knowledge about how to play golf. There won’t be any lessons or instruction offered. No pre-registration is needed. Just check in by 5:20 p.m. at the golf course desk and be ready to start playing at 5:30 p.m. For more information about the program, call Roseburg Parks and Recreation at 541-492-6899. These sessions take the “work” out of workout by mixing low- and high-intensity moves in these interval-style, family friendly dance fitness parties. Y instructors will teach the high-energy cardio dance fitness classes to upbeat music every Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. in the grass just west of the large pavilion. “We are lucky to be partnering with the Roseburg YMCA again this year to offer ‘Zumba in the Park’ as a free way to be active outdoors this summer. Stewart Park is the perfect setting for this type of group activity,” said Roseburg Parks and Recreation Coordinator Tracy David. Zumba is a dance fitness program developed in the 1990s by Colombian dancer and choreographer Alberto “Beto” Perez. No registration is needed for the classes in Roseburg, but please arrive a few minutes early to sign in. Wear comfortable workout clothing and bring water.
