The Umpqua Valley Christian boys soccer team defeated South Umpqua 9-1 in a Special District 4 matchup Thursday night to win their fifth game in a row.

UVC (7-1, 6-1) was led by Spencer Adams who had two goals while six other Monarch players scored in the match. The No. 7 ranked Monarchs had 16 shots on goal. It was the sixth game of the year that UVC has given up one goal or less. “We played a really smooth game technically and tactically,” UVC coach Chris Guastaferro said. “Our boys came out serious with an eagerness to control the pitch.” Koby Sewall scored in the 8th minute while Sam Guastaferro scored in the 10th minute. Tyler Miller added a goal in the 14th minute and Spencer Adams scored in the 15th and 22nd minutes. South Umpqua (1-6, 1-6) gave up an own goal in the 27th minute. Kobe Davis scored for the Lancers in the 54th minute. Isaac Guastaferro scored in the 60th minute. Josh Salshenburg scored in the 69th minute while Nathan York scored in the 71st minute.
