8th Annual Kids Safety Day Highlights Bike Safety, July 22nd

This year, the annual Kids Safety Day is driving into its 8th edition with a special focus on bicycle safety. Organized by CHI Mercy Health and Costco of Roseburg, the event is slated to be held on July 22, 2023, between 10 am to 1 pm in the Costco parking lot. The free event aims to educate children about the vital importance of bike safety. The spotlight is on minimizing the risk of permanent brain injuries that can result from bicycle incidents. Key emphasis will be placed on correctly wearing a helmet to drastically reduce the risk of injury. An impressive list of safety leaders and organizations will be present to guide and inspire the young attendees. These include 911 Communications, AIM Therapies, Aviva Health, CHI Mercy Health, and the City of Roseburg Fire Department. Also joining the event are the City of Roseburg Police/K-9 Department, Centennial Medical Group, Douglas County Car Seat Coalition, Douglas County Sheriff, and Gun Safety of Douglas County. Additional organizations like Joe's Towing, Oregon Poison Center, REACH Air, Roseburg ENT Associates, and the Roseburg Library will contribute their expertise to the cause. Ensuring a broad scope of safety, Sleep in Heavenly Peace, True North Restoration, UCAN Head Start & Early Head Start, Umpqua Thrive, and Umpqua Valley Ambulance will be present too. Up2Us Now/DC Human Trafficking Task Force, Wildlife Safari, and the DFPA will round out this impressive roster of participants. Kids Safety Day is an opportunity for the entire community to come together and emphasize the importance of children's safety.
