6 New Fires Start in Douglas County

Update 8 pm: The fires caused from this morning’s thunderstorm have been 100% trailed, plumbed and are being actively mopped up through the night. Crews will continue to secure lines until 100% of mop-up is achieved throughout the next couple days. Crews will continue to monitor and patrol the area. Aircraft may be used periodically throughout the weekend. Lightning moving through Wednesday morning has started 6 new wildfires according to DFPA. Fortunately, the largest fire is just an acre in size as of noon. Here is the latest update from DFPA: "09/07/22 @ 12 pm / Noon Update: At this time a total of 6 fires have been confirmed. 2 on BLM, 2 on Cow Creek Tribal Lands and 2 on private timber land. 3 fires are near Coffee Creek Drainage near Milo, Or. 3 fires are near Deadman Creek in the Tiller area. 1 fire is estimated to be 1 acre. All of the other fires are currently estimated to be less than a 1/2 acre, each. DFPA is currently responding with an aggressive initial attack with 10 engines plus over head crews, 1 timber-faller, 2 dozers, 4 total helicopters; 2- type twos, 2- type ones and a fixed-wing air attack. Additional resources are currently on order, with a confirmed 8 person crew responding from Coos FPA. At this time, there is no threat to homes or structures.
