Douglas County Fair Begins Wednesday

The annual Douglas County Fair starts on Wednesday. The Open Class exhibits are still open for arts, crafts, textiles, photography, food preservation, land products, baking, beer, wine, and flowers. Different categories are open on different days from today until Tuesday. The main gate opens at 7 a.m. The carnival gate opens at 10 a.m. All buildings close at 10 p.m. and all gates close at 11 p.m. The Roseburg Rotary Auction will be held on Saturday at 4 p.m. in the Don Lilja Pavilion. The sheep show will be on Wednesday at 9 a.m., the beef cattle show will be at 2 p.m. The diary goat AGDA show will be on Thursday at 9 a.m and the dairy cattle show will be at 1 a.m. Entry is $10 per person over 12 years old, parking is $10 per entry, and the bus will shuttle to the fairgrounds every day for free. Teens get $2 off entry with a canned food. The bus will shuttle from Roseburg High School to the main gate and from the First Student Bus Lot in Green to the carnival gate every half hour from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. On Wednesday, seniors over 65 years old enter free. On Thursday, entry is free for everyone until 3 p.m. On Friday, dress like a vegetable to get in for free from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the main gate. Military personnel get free entry until 5 p.m. on Friday at the main gate. Entertainment schedule: Wednesday: 7 p.m. in the grandstands - Challenge of Champions vs Tour Bull Riding 8:30 p.m. in The News-Review Garden Park Stage - The Boondocks Boys playing southern rock and country music. Thursday: 7:30 p.m. in The News-Review Garden Park Stage - Granger Smith playing country music. Friday: 8 p.m. in The News-Review Garden Park Stage - Marshall Tucker Band playing rock music. Saturday: 8 p.m. in The News-Review Garden Park Stage - Hell’s Belles playing rock music. Blankets and chairs may be placed on the lawn for the concert anytime during the day, but the fairgrounds is not responsible for lost or stolen items.
