Diamond Lake Snowpack To Reach Four Feet By Thursday Morning
11:16 PM · Dec 14, 2021Recent storms have dropped approximately 3 feet (37 inches) of snow at Diamond Lake over the past few days. Today it's mostly clear and sunny, but the next storm arrives Wednesday morning. Forecasts are calling for another 14 inches of snow between Wednesday and Thursday morning at Diamond Lake. The lake is also starting to freeze over as you can see from photos by Ginger Finch taken this morning. The ice on the lake needs to be at least 6-8 inches thick for people to safely walk on the ice. With lots of cold in the upcoming forecast, that could take place in the next 2-3 weeks. We can expect some decent wind gusts across Douglas County on Wednesday with highest gusts in the mountains and along the coast. It doesn't appear we are going to get much valley snow after all. Recent changes to the storm have snow levels up around 2000 feet according to the latest update from the NWS in Medford.
