Confidence in the coming weather system is significantly increasing and Douglas County is set to receive some desperately needed rain. NWS in Medford is predicting up to 1 1/2 inches of rain over the weekend for the Roseburg area. Small chance of a little rain Friday morning but most likely things pick up Friday afternoon. It's possible there could be a high wind advisory issued for our area prior to the front's arrival. Between the severe drought conditions that currently exist to our large wildfires, the rain is going to be a significant help to the area. Here is their latest message Tuesday afternoon on the coming front: "A significant fall-like frontal system will move in late this week. Wetting rain is likely for the vast majority of the forecast area along with some gusty winds preceding the front. The winds and continued dry humidity will result in elevated fire weather concerns at times through Friday. Rainfall will be moderate to heavy at times along the coast and into the Umpqua Basin Friday night into Saturday with showers continuing into Sunday. Rainfall with the front will push through the Rogue Valley/Cascades Saturday, then south and east of the Cascades Saturday night into Sunday. Showers persist behind the front into Sunday afternoon, but largely end Sunday night into Monday. A period of cold temperatures will follow as skies clear Sunday night and Monday night. Temperatures near or below freezing are possible over the east side. Stay tuned to the forecast for updates as the situation evolves."
