Chris Langford of BL Performance Reflects on 5 Years in Business

12:43 AM · Sep 9, 2021

Chris Langford started BL Performance five years ago after a difficult period of life. When a new opportunity presented itself, Chris adapted and found a way to succeed. “BL Performance was formed during a time of need,” Langford said. “I have always lived by the idea that if we can make aftermarket modifications work correctly on a car then installing and repairing original factory equipment and components is a walk in the park.” Langford had gone through some devastating life events before this, including the loss of his wife and father-in-law in a home intrusion in 2013 “Needing to start this new chapter in my life, I decided that I would redirect the overall structure of my business and build on a name that meant more to me than anything,” Langford said. “The BL in BL Performance represents the love of my life, my wife Brittney Langford. I felt a level of theft from this that I had never experienced, we were robbed of some of the best people I have ever met in my life. As I was getting back on my feet and starting my new business, I felt there was no better way to be able to put Brittney’s name somewhere that would always be seen and never forgotten.” Transitioning from performance work to repairs required convincing the business community to take BL Performance seriously. “I would say one of the biggest obstacles we have had to overcome is being taken seriously as a substantial operating business in the world of business,” Langford said. “Financially, in the community, and business to business are all difficult areas to gain trust when you're starting from nothing.” The business has earned enough trust to stay in business and to grow in the community. Langford and his employees work on continuing their education regularly as cars change every year and every manufacturer puts their cars together a little differently. “Being active in the Roseburg community and building strong business relationships is one of the best ways to build a strong foundation for your business,” Langford said. BL Performance prioritizes transparency, communication, setting clear expectations, and hiring employees that understand and fit the company culture. “I want to thank every single person who has trusted us to give us a shot at their business and continue to stick around as regular customers!” Langford said. “Referrals in Roseburg are a huge part of the equation and we really do appreciate all of the awesome customers that we have!” ***BL Performance is hosting a “5 Years in Business” celebration on Thursday, September 9th from 11am - 2pm.
